Webinar: URLLC: A view from the edge
How edge computing enables ultra-low latency applications in vertical markets
Monica Paolini, Principal, Senza Fili
Milan Lalovic, Principal Researcher, Wireless and Networks Services, BT TSO
It used to be all about capacity in wireless networks. But latency is becoming just as fundamental as capacity in enabling new use cases – and in supporting existing ones that run in real-time.
While all real-time traffic (e.g., voice and video) benefit from the lower latency of an edge-computing distributed architecture, many new verticals, such as automotive, healthcare and entertainment (e.g., gaming) require latencies in the order of 1 ms which mandates the use of edge computing.
In this webinar, we discuss the role of edge computing as a necessary enabler of URLLC in different verticals, and how operators, enterprises and venue owners can leverage edge computing to lower latency, in terms of technology, business models, and use cases.
Senza Fili is presenting this webinar in collaboration with EIE, the organizer of the 5G URLLC 2018 conference in London on September 5-6, 2018. At the conference, BT, Vodafone, Softbank, Telecom Italia, NTT DOCOMO, Three, Bell Mobility, Deutsche Telecom, Orange, Bosch, Renault, NHS, BBC,UK Home Office, 5GAA and many more will be following up discussions alongside many of the wider issues surrounding the delivery of 5G ultra reliable low latency communications.
